The Corpus Christi Bayfront
If you are on Padre Island and decide to take the scenic route down Ocean
Drive to downtown you eventually end up at the Bayfront. This drive is about
20 minutes and well worth the view of homes, parks and of course the
"Sparkling City by the Sea".
The Corpus Christi Bayfront is the jewel that make Corpus Christi sparkle.
Cool breezes in the summer evenings make for a great walk on the bayfront, along
the seawall or through the water gardens. In the fall and winter months
mild temperatures provide for near perfect weather to enjoy all the city has to
offer.
Whataburger Field
Home to the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball team, Whataburger
Field sits right on the waters edge at the Port of Corpus Christi. Over looking
the field is the Harbor Bridge. During games ships of all types pass through the
port adding an experience unique to Corpus Christi. Sit back and watch America's
game in the cool breeze coming off the Corpus Christi Bayfront. The Hooks are
the AA affiliate of the Houston Astros. (visit)
Harbor Playhouse
The Harbor Playhouse is offers great entertainment for the entire
family. It is a non-profit organization that has brought live
theatre to the community since 1925. Be sure to check in on the
summer Melodramas (visit)
Water Gardens
Located
between the South Texas Institute for the Arts and the Museum of
Natural Science and History the Water Gardens provide a great
place to soak up the ambience and take a few pictures. A
cascading water fall walkway reaches it's destination in a
circular waterfall fountain surrounding a large grassy park.
Make sure you walk down into the fountain (don't worry you can
stay dry!)
South Texas Institute for the Arts
Serving
as the focal point for fine art in Corpus Christi, the South
Texas Institute for the Arts has been a part of our history
since 1945. Due to the facilities location directly on the bay
the views are not limited to the art exhibits alone. The
institute has both visiting exhibitions and a permanent display
of art. (visit)
Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History
One
of the few venues that captures the multi-cultural history of South
Texas and Corpus Christi. The museum provides visitors with insight and
artifacts from the eras of cowboys, pirates, Spanish Galleons and the
impact of the discovery of oil in Texas. Many other exhibits exist
including a portion of the Columbus ship fleet (which can be toured
inside the ship) coastal artifacts, animals and much more. (visit)
