White Cap Beach
Located
between Padre Balli Park and the beginning of the seawall on
the island, White Cap beach runs about 1.5 miles long. Accessible from Park Road
22 by turning east onto White Cap Boulevard. This beach has no facilities or
paved area. Driving is permitted on the beach here but parking requires a
beach parking permit available at any store on the island. The beach is
patrolled to assure compliance with this ordinance. In the summer months
lifeguards are on duty at this beach.
This beach is favored by locals as a place to watch the sunrise with a cup
of coffee, get away from the crowds at other beaches and the
ease of access. Beach Access roads 3 and 3A also lead to White Cap Beach. Two
convenience stores sit at the entrance to this beach providing easy access for
beach supplies such as food, drinks, ice and more.
Whether summer or winter months you can usually find people surf fishing
right at the beginning of white cap beach where the seawall starts. This is a
great area to view wildlife, explore the edge of the dune's grass line (going to
far into will probably result in meeting a rattlesnake) and just enjoy what
Texas beaches have to offer.
